Junk Food
Junk food is the type of food that is high in calories, fats, salt and sugar. Any kind of food that is not good for health is termed as junk food. Now a day’s people are consuming a lot of junk food as it is easily available. Junk food is in your reach wherever we go, be it Hospitals, restaurants, schools, parks, cinema or any store.
It is easy to place an order through any food delivery app and your favourite pizza, burger, Nachos, Soda or anything is at your door step.
How children are easy target?
Children are easily trapped through advertisements, Unique and colorful packing of sweets, chocolates, and lollypops. These advertisement attracts their attention and they are naturally urged to know what’s inside. They make their mind that whatever is advertising it’s definitely going to be tasty.
Some other techniques like stickers wrapped around bubble gum gives them double treat, gives flavor to their taste buds and sticker of their favorite cartoon character which they can paste on their books, walls, hands anywhere they like. Also, branding with famous cartoon character make them urge for the food more.
However, sometimes I believe its children psyche to like everything which is not good for their health. They are always going to pick junk over healthy food.
Fast food
Another term used for unhealthy food is fast food. It is freely available at restaurants, café and departmental stores nearby. It’s also just a call away. You have more options of fast food on delivery apps or menu cards of restaurants than other food.
That’s what attracts the attention of working people. Getting late for an important meeting or school? Ok i will grab a sandwich or burger on my way. The easily availability of fast food and laziness to make healthy food is one of the causes of health problems these days.
Highly processed food
This food is highly processed to achieve the desired flavour. The more it is processed the more contaminated it becomes. There is no match of healthy natural food straight from the farm or your own garden to these highly processed and oily foods.
How can we save health of our generations?
If we want to save our kids from unhealthy eating habits then we must educate and aware them to differentiate between healthy food and unhealthy food. We should offer them healthy homemade snacks rather than readymade easily available snakes.
Further, now a days schools are also playing their positive roles in this regard. Children are becoming more and more aware as teachers teach them difference between healthy and non-healthy food. There are schools which don’t allow junk food to be sold in their premises. Also, they don’t allow students to bring junk food in their lunchbox.
Obesity and Junk Food
Children are becoming more and more obese with unhealthy. They are not able to play and run like we used to at our times. All they do is consume junk and spend their time in front of television, play stations, mobile phones or laptops. Which is ultimately leading to anxiety and depression. We are not saying that one should avoid junk food at all. We can occasionally have pizza, burgers or anything which suits our taste buds. But, we suggest to not have junk food on daily basis. Do not make it a part of your routine life. We should shift our choices towards healthier snacks and meals if we want to spend a healthy and happy life.
